for one another...in order that in everything
God may be glorified."

WHAT IS THE TRUST FUND?

Mission Statement

To provide brothers and sisters in Christ the opportunity to share their life's gifts in support of the mission of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for the lasting benefit of this and future generations.

Vision Statement

The Trust Fund provides stable, dependable, long-term financial resources for enhancing and expanding the vision of The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd.

The Trust Fund is an Endowment Fund comprised of gifts and bequests held separate from the operating budget of The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd. The Fund was established in 1989 to provide a meaningful extension of stewardship opportunities for members and friends of the Congregation.

Planned giving is a kind of stewardship, which gives beyond our years. It allows us to be good stewards of all those "things" we have accumulated.

Not only will this kind of stewardship be a blessing to others, it will also provide a blessing to you. Just as you feel a sense of satisfaction each time you share from your income, you can in an even greater sense experience the joy of knowing that after you are called home, a portion of what you have accumulated will be directed, as you have chosen, to the causes that are important to you.

The Trust Fund will help you do that. By suggesting creative ways to give, we can help direct your resources that can help you today, and help Faith tomorrow.

Funds in the Trust Fund are managed by the Permanent Trust Fund Committee, which is elected by the Congregation.

HOW CAN GIFTS BE MADE TO THE TRUST FUND?

Cash

Charitable Gift Annuity

Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Funds

Trust

Real Estate

Bequest through your Will

Life Insurance

Memorials

Such gifts will keep on giving, to perpetuate your interest in The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd and your witness to Christ.

Planned giving frequently requires the time and talents of professional financial advisors, your attorney and tax advisors, to help match and implement the appropriate strategy, or blend of strategies to meet your needs.

The Trust Fund Committee has established a resource team of experts on estate and planned giving to assist you.

WHY GIVE TO THE TRUST FUND?

You desire to put plans in place to take care of your own needs and to care for those that you love.

Your gift is held in perpetuity. Earnings are available to sustain and strengthen the life and mission of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

You desire to increase your spendable income, perhaps with assurance of fixed, guaranteed payment for the rest of your life.

You wish to provide a secure source of income for you, or your spouse, or for another person who might survive you.

You would like to establish a generous future gift for Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

You wish to maximize your gift through income tax deductions.

You wish to reduce or eliminate the impact of estate and inheritance taxes.

You would like to eliminate or reduce capital gains tax.

You wish to minimize probate costs.

You want to extend your stewardship of God's Blessings by continuing a positive influence in the lives of Goode Shepherd's members and others who will shape the future of our church.

THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD
TRUST FUND

During the month of September, the Trust Fund Committee will accept proposals of "Request For Funds" from the trust income from committees or individuals.

According to the Trust Fund bylaws, the proposed use of the funds must "enhance the work of the church by establishing new ministries and stewardship opportunities additional to and apart from the general operation of the church."

Request forms and guidelines are available in the church office. Please carefully read the guidelines before you begin the application process. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Trust Fund Committee: Carl Beil, Dave Brown, or Ray Schultz.

Guidelines for proposed requests

1. The congregation has the final approval for all proposals. This takes place at the annual congregational meeting in November.

2. Friday, September 30, 2005, is the deadline for submitting the proposals to the church office. Any requests that are submitted after the deadline of September 30 or not on the proper request forms cannot be considered.

3. Actual bids or quotes must be submitted with the request when applicable.

4. Please check with the appropriate committee or staff member before submitting your request.

5. If your request is approved at the annual meeting in November, it is necessary to submit the bill to the Trust Fund Committee for payment no later than September 1 of the following year (2006) unless special approval is obtained from the Committee.

6. The request cannot be changed after it has been presented and approved by the congregation at the annual meeting in November.
