Jesus the ShepherdFrom the time Jesus of Nazareth walked the earth, he has had followers who've passed his teachings on from one generation to the next. Because Jesus was called the Christos in ancient Greek (meaning, "the Chosen One"), his followers were labeled "Christians".

The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is a collection of people who share specific beliefs about God, life, love, and Jesus Christ that make us Christian, but emphasize certain aspects of those beliefs which make us Lutheran Christians.

What does this mean?

We believe that God has revealed some very special truths about life to anyone who will listen. This is what God has revealed, and what we know to be true:

that everyone suffers from a spiritual illness which separates us from God...we call it sin.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
 Romans 3: 23
  that the only solution to sin is to believe in and accept (we call that Faith) God's unconditional forgiveness and love in Jesus Christ (we call that God's Grace). No amount of good works will overcome sin.. . only God's grace.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
 Eph. 2: 9
   that it is God's Spirit working in us that enables us to accept God's grace in our lives and have faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior (we call this guidance from the Holy Spirit).
 But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me (Jesus).
 John 15: 26
  that we follow Jesus Christ according to the truths laid out in the book that explains God's truths (we call that the Bible).
All scripture is given by inspiration of God....
 2 Tim. 3: 16
  that God wants us to enjoy new life in Christ. God loves us that much. - so much that he gave his only son Jesus so that we could live in a loving relationship with our Heavenly Father and a loving relationship to others (that we call the Good News!).
 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
 John 3: 16
So this is what it's all about--the good news that is part of our Worship Services, Sunday School classes, and Bible Studies.
