Call Committee Narrative

The Call Committee consists of ten members, 7 voting members and 3 alternates. For the first time that we know of at Good Shepherd, one of our pastors is not an integral part of the Call Committee. We are fortunate to have a group that participates in and has in depth knowledge about the many varied activities of Good Shepherd. We have two members who have served on previous call committees. Therefore, the call committee is determined to move forward, with God’s help and yours, to do our best to complete the mission profile, prepare for and interview candidates and in time to select for call God’s chosen servant to be our Senior Pastor.

Call Committee Milestones:

• July 31, 2007 – Call Committee elected by the Council
• August 12, 2007 – Call Committee installation
• August 29, 2007 – The Call Committee and the Council had an informational meeting with Pastor Wong, the Bishop’s assistant.
• September 16, 2007 – First meeting to get acquainted and complete organizational tasks.
• September 24, 2007 – Began work on the Congregational Mission Profile
• October 8, 2007 – The Call Committee met with the Council to clarify call process issues
• October 21, 2007 – The Call Committee held an informational forum for the congregation.
• October 22, 2007 - The call committee members divided the Congregational Mission Profile sections for drafting the document.
• November 11, 2007 – Call Committee update at the Annual Meeting
• December 9-26, 2007 – Surveyed the congregation for input on section 25 and 27 of the Congregation Mission Profile.
